(chocolate moist cake picture. Not tiramisu)
My tiramisu definitely cant be compared to the real cake maker but my friends said it was nice and wanted the recipe. So here goes.
*Warning. I am NOT held liable (I repeat - NOT) for any illnesses that should arise from eating tiramisu made by using this recipe :P 7 people ate the tiramisu shown above and they are well and healthy up to date* hehe
Okie..Well, lets see. There are 2 types of tiramisu, 1 that needs to be baked and the other one doesnt. I've made one that does not need baking because of only 1 reason - EASY!!
The recipe below makes about 4-7 slices depending on how big the slices are.
Ingredients
2 eggs
Mascaspone Cheese 250g (this cheese is nice but deadly, abt 70-85% fat but it is needed to make tiramisu..Ironic)
ladyfinger cookies (basically almost any cookies are alright as long as they are plain, up to your liking)
sugar - about 2 spoonful per egg
coffee powder- preferably italian, it will taste nicer
strong coffee powder (optional) - for base
cocoa powder
lindt 70% dark chocolate
white chocolate
alcohol - rum (optional)
Whipping cream (optional)
Vanilla (optional)
Methods
- Divide the egg white and yolk
- Beat egg yolk with ~4 spoonful of sugar as 2 eggs are used until the yolk thickens and become beige like colour.
- beat egg white until it is snowy looking and frothy
- add mascarpone into the beaten yolk (up to you if you want to use 250gm. I used about 150-200gm only. Fattening you see :P )
- Add alcohol (rum would be nicer but dont put too much) - optional
- Add a bit of vanilla, a few drops will do
- Melt the Lindt 70% and add it to the yolk.
- Fold egg white into mix
- Add the coffee up to your liking
- Add small pieces of white chocolate and mix again. Leave it aside for awhile to make the base of the tiramisu
- Make coffee from the coffee powder. It is up to you if you want to use the italian coffee or strong coffee. I prefer strong coffee as it will give slightly bitter taste.
- Soak the ladyfinger in the coffee for about 2seconds until it absorbed the coffee and line the base.
- Scoop some of the tiramisu mix onto the base and level them out.
- Add whipping cream on top of the tiramisu mix (optional)
- Repeat step 11-13, ladyfinger cookies>tiramisu mix>whipping cream.
- Refrigerate about 3-24 hrs before serving. When serving, you may add white chocolate on top or sprinkle with cheese or anything up to your liking.
Congratulations. You are finished with the tiramisu recipe. This is personal recipe. I am sure there are tons of recipes online which you can try :)
Like I said, I am not liable to any sicknesses :P hehehe...Good luck if you wanted to try out the recipe.
This is the recipe for chocolate frosting.
- add some cheese, butter, cocoa powder, sugar, vanilla, some dark chocolate and some milk (dont put too much as you will make it too watery).
- bring to boil, about 1 min or so and cool partially before spreading it out onto the cake.
- If it is too watery, you would have to add more chocolate, cocoa powder or sugar.
I do not measure out how much for the icing as usually I go with my senses :P so can't help you with that.
