Tiramisu oh Tiramisu, a bite of tiramisu feels like heaven, soft, sweet, flavoursome...

(chocolate moist cake picture. Not tiramisu)

My tiramisu definitely cant be compared to the real cake maker but my friends said it was nice and wanted the recipe. So here goes.

*Warning. I am NOT held liable (I repeat - NOT) for any illnesses that should arise from eating tiramisu made by using this recipe :P 7 people ate the tiramisu shown above and they are well and healthy up to date* hehe

Okie..Well, lets see. There are 2 types of tiramisu, 1 that needs to be baked and the other one doesnt. I've made one that does not need baking because of only 1 reason - EASY!!

The recipe below makes about 4-7 slices depending on how big the slices are.

Ingredients

2 eggs

Mascaspone Cheese 250g (this cheese is nice but deadly, abt 70-85% fat but it is needed to make tiramisu..Ironic)

ladyfinger cookies (basically almost any cookies are alright as long as they are plain, up to your liking)

sugar - about 2 spoonful per egg

coffee powder- preferably italian, it will taste nicer

strong coffee powder (optional) - for base

cocoa powder

lindt 70% dark chocolate

white chocolate

alcohol - rum (optional)

Whipping cream (optional)

Vanilla (optional)

Methods

  1. Divide the egg white and yolk
  2. Beat egg yolk with ~4 spoonful of sugar as 2 eggs are used until the yolk thickens and become beige like colour.
  3. beat egg white until it is snowy looking and frothy
  4. add mascarpone into the beaten yolk (up to you if you want to use 250gm. I used about 150-200gm only. Fattening you see :P )
  5. Add alcohol (rum would be nicer but dont put too much) - optional
  6. Add a bit of vanilla, a few drops will do
  7. Melt the Lindt 70% and add it to the yolk.
  8. Fold egg white into mix
  9. Add the coffee up to your liking
  10. Add small pieces of white chocolate and mix again. Leave it aside for awhile to make the base of the tiramisu
  11. Make coffee from the coffee powder. It is up to you if you want to use the italian coffee or strong coffee. I prefer strong coffee as it will give slightly bitter taste.
  12. Soak the ladyfinger in the coffee for about 2seconds until it absorbed the coffee and line the base.
  13. Scoop some of the tiramisu mix onto the base and level them out.
  14. Add whipping cream on top of the tiramisu mix (optional)
  15. Repeat step 11-13, ladyfinger cookies>tiramisu mix>whipping cream.
  16. Refrigerate about 3-24 hrs before serving. When serving, you may add white chocolate on top or sprinkle with cheese or anything up to your liking.

Congratulations. You are finished with the tiramisu recipe. This is personal recipe. I am sure there are tons of recipes online which you can try :)

Like I said, I am not liable to any sicknesses :P hehehe...Good luck if you wanted to try out the recipe.

This is the recipe for chocolate frosting.

  1. add some cheese, butter, cocoa powder, sugar, vanilla, some dark chocolate and some milk (dont put too much as you will make it too watery).
  2. bring to boil, about 1 min or so and cool partially before spreading it out onto the cake.
  3. If it is too watery, you would have to add more chocolate, cocoa powder or sugar.

I do not measure out how much for the icing as usually I go with my senses :P so can't help you with that.

Laboratory. *18SG*

Sadly I do not have any pictures of my laboratory mouse.

YES we used mice in our lab today. The mouse was so small and it was like span only half of my palm. It was a dead mouse. It looked so cute and small and it was white in colour. If it is still alive, I would still have killed it :P keke..I am a heartless person and I am sure those who knows me will support me :P

The following descriptions are not for the faint hearted and the person who reads this must imagine to understand better as I do not have pictures of my mouse. Be warned :P

First and foremost, we pulled the skin with a forcep and made a small cut with the scissors. Then we pulled the skin open revealing the peritoneum enclosed by membrane. As we only need the hind limbs, we pulled the skin of the limbs further and we cut off the bone near to the pelvic.

Then we took the limb and pull the skin further down towards the paw and we cut them off as well. After that, we used the scissors and cut off the tissues and muscles as we only need the bones.

After some thorough cleaning, the bones can be seen; femur, tibia and fibula. We pulled the tibia and fibula away from the femur and we cut off the fibula as the bone was too small and too thin to do anything with it. Later we took a needle and a syringe filled with media, poked into the hole in the bones and flush out the bone marrow. This was the only thing we need to analyse and the rest of the mouse can be discarded.

As pitiful as it was, Ann did not plan to leave it to rest in peace. She practically cut off everything revealing the heart, the lungs, the liver, the kidneys, the intestines, etc :P WHat a horrible thing to do to a dead mouse :P hehe

After all those 'dissection' the whole mouse looked like some pile of red thing..Imagine you tried chewing some food before realising it sucks and then you spit them out. It looked just like that :P

We threw the mouse away, counted the cells using haemocytometer and the all expensive advance microscope and we were done. We were the first group among all to finish :) My group consisted of Ann, Wai Yi, Noni and Me.

Our mouse musta been an active one as it has about 20mil cells in total, from only the femur and tibia :P

SO lets have a moment of silence for the mouse :)

Blood Anyone?

A battle between light and darkness; the sun will always shine on those who are right and just :)

7.50am, 17th September 2007

It was a windy cold morning. No matter how hot the sun is, as long as you are under the shade away from the sunlight while the wind is blowing, you will feel cold. Look at how strong and bright the sunlight was.

This was 7.50am in the morning and I was waiting for the HAPS(No idea what it stands for) to open. I chose the earliest time for the session and there I was waiting to be jabbed. This was the day when my blood was extracted for analysis. It is not compulsory part of the course but since it is free, why not give it a try?

Though I am not scared of needles, but I did try not to look at my arm when the lady was taking my blood. I was hoping that the needles would not be super big or thick. Luckily it was over before i knew, about less than 5minutes. Though it was not painful or anything, I felt tempted to put up the following picture :P

Hmm, wouldn't you say i have good skin? keke.. The little red dot in the middle was the place where the lady poked her needle into me..

After the blood thingy, we (wai yi and me. Ann was taking antibiotics and therefore she changed her appointment) went over to Ann's room to see her. She looked better than before, thanks to antibiotics. Anyway as naive as I am, i did one horrible thing to the 2 soft toys which belongs to Intan. One was Piglet and the other one was Mr.Beans bear. I somehow combined both of them and well this is the results.

I present to you the 'unholy' combination :P WEll, who knows what the outspring of Piglet and Mr.Beans bear would be if one of them is a female and they mate :P lol. It might just look like the picture above.
